 Health Occupations-Anatomy/Physiology

 

is a one year program and is designed for any student who is preparing for any career in the health or science field.

Through this program, students complete  SMCC’s Anatomy & Physiology I and II courses and for a total of 14 college credits and Introduction to Health Sciences for a total of 11 College credits through SMCC.

Eligibility

  • 11th or 12th grade student
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Strong reading and writing skills

Curriculum

  • Anatomy Medical terminology
  • Fundamental biochemistry
  • Structure and function of cells, tissues, integument, skeleton, joints, muscles and nervous system, endochrine system, cardiovascular system, lymphatic system, digestive system, respiratory system, urinary system, and reproductive system
  • Common diseases for each body system
  • Introduction to the healthcare system-HIPAA, patient rights, legal, and medical ethics, healthcare computer systems, comparative analysis of healthcare systems between the US and other countries.
