Keagon Leighton-CTE Student of the Year
Keagon Leighton is Lake Region Vocational Center’s Student of the Year.
Keagon is a highly effective role model and student leader. When his program took on a large project in the community, Keagon arrived a half hour early to organize the equipment, work crew, and other logistics. On the job site, he would direct and assign tasks and answer questions that his fellow students had. He also regularly helped students who struggled and has been a mentor to a student for the past two years. Keagon recently supervised the entire operation of a large remodelling project.
Keagon has played varsity football, competed for two years at SkillsUSA, served as Vice President of his SkillsUSA chapter, and has helped at a number of other fundraising events and community service projects. When Keagon joined SkillsUSA, the enrollment of his class in that organization doubled immediately due to students following his lead. He has only missed three days of school in the past two years.
Next year, Keagon plans on attending Central Maine Community College to study Architectural and Civil Engineering Technologies.
