Silver and Bronze Winners at FBLA State Conference
Maine FBLA is a chapter of Future Business Leaders of America which is one of the largest groups of business students in the world. The goal of FBLA is to bring education and business together through innovative leadership and career development to prepare students for the 21st century business world.
This year’s 2 day State Leadership Conference, which included a state level competition and workshops, began on March 19 in Portland.
Congratulations to this year’s LRVC winners:Nick Gagnon and Michael Peterson, both from Lake Region High School, competed in Entrepreneurship and won Second Place. They had to take a written objective test and they were given a problem encountered by entrepreneurs where they had 20 minutes to come up with a solution to the problem and present it to the judges. They also competed in Publication Design and won Third Place. They had to create a publication portfolio promoting an original TV series. Their portfolio included a poster, character cutout design, newspaper advertisement, and three promotional items.
Kara Wood of Lake Region High School, Samantha Lewis of Sacopee Valley High School, and Dawn Burnham of Sacopee Valley High School competed in Graphic Design and won Third Place and $500 scholarship each to Johnson and Wales University. The girls had to create a logo, theme, store front design, interior and exterior signage, and menu boards for a family entertainment center.
