SKILLS USA FUN FUNDRAISER

Once again, Aubuchon Hardware in Naples sponsored the always popular Tractor Races for kids ages 3-8. Pictured above with Roger LaCroix, Store Manager, are the winners in the two race categories. On the left is Owen Stuart who won the 3-5 age group and on the right Olivia Stuart, his sister, who came in first in the 6-8 year old category. LRVC honors newest Certified Nurse Assistants!

After successfully completing the Health Occupations program and the Certified Nurse Assistant requirements at Lake Region Vocational Center, six students earned their certificates and CNA pins.  In a pinning ceremony held on May 27th, students celebrated their achievement with an evening ceremony followed by a reception in the Health Occupations classroom.

Pet Therapy visit @ LRVC

The Health Occupations students at Lake Region Vocational Center recently had a special visit from a Pet Therapy team.  Volunteers from Central Maine Medical Center,  Sue Ray and her pet therapy dog, Harley, visited to talk about the benefits of pet therapy.  Students learned about the training required to become certified in pet therapy and the positive emotional and physical results of this important intervention.

Ann Curtis RN, Health Occupations Instructor, was recently named this year’s recipient of the Holley S. Gimpel Award at St. Joseph’s College of Maine. This award honors the first coordinator of the RN to BSN program at St. Joseph’s College and is given to a student who has shown commitment and motivation in the pursuit of a goal. Mrs. Curtis received her award at the Reception for Graduate and Professional Studies on May 7th in Mercy Hall. She has been the Health Occupations...

LRVC ANNUAL YARD SALE

LRVC SkillsUSA State Officers Angelica Beek and David MacDonald hold items for the Annual Giant Yard Sale being held on Saturday, May 22, 2010, from 8 AM to 1 PM on the front lawn of the high school/vocational center. Angel and David are raising money to go to the SkillsUSA National Convention in Kansas City on June 21 where they will represent the State of Maine. They both will attend SkillsUSA Officer Training. 16th Annual LRVC Talent Show

Lake Region Vocational Center held its 16th Annual Talent Show sponsored by the local chapters of SkillsUSA and FBLA.  All proceeds of this event will go to help send the winners of the State SkillsUSA Competition to Kansas City in June to compete at the National SkillsUSA Championship.  Winners of the LRVC Talent Show were Garrett LaBarge (pictured back-right) and Justin Peterson earning First Place and $100 by playing guitars and singing a song that they wrote themselves, Live My...

LRVC CNA Graduate Pursues Her Dreams at NMCC

Corey Westleigh is a graduate of Lake Region Vocational Center's Health Occupations Program.  As a two-year student, she became a Certified Nurse Assistant and also earned certifications from the American Heart Association in First Aid and CPR.  While a junior, she represented LRVC at the SkillsUSA Maine conference and won a gold medal in Prepared Speech.  Cory went on to represent the state in the SkillsUSA National Conference in Kansas City.
